Paxful is a digital currency exchange website based in Wilmington, Delaware. It was founded in 2015 by Ray Youssef and Artur Schaback. Paxful functions more like a P2P Bitcoin buying and selling website and allows users to trade fiat currencies for Bitcoin, and vice-versa. This website gained global attention in 2015 after it helped sex workers to accept payment in form of Bitcoin. At that time, Mastercard and Visa had severed their working relationship with Backpage, the company involved with sex workers. Paxful has the licenses to operate in the entire US jurisdiction except in New York.
