Balloon Hashing

Balloon Hashing, also known as the Balloon Function, is a new memory-hard password-hashing function that is relatively hard to compute. It has a number of desirable properties including proven memory hardness, it’s built from standard primitives and it is resistant to Cache attacks, as it is independent of the password being hashed. It is a practical function very useful to miners.
