Crowdfunding is the process of receiving investments from a large population of people (the “Crowd”) in order to launch a business. Each of the funders receive something in return once the business has been funded in full. Many sites such as Kickstarter or Indigogo have revolutionized the startup business world because people no longer need large amounts of capital to create new businesses. If they can create a campaign that resonates with their core consumer group and generate funding, they can start their business on a promise to those people that they will deliver the good or service within a short period of time after receiving complete funding.
